The Pasadena ISD Education Foundation hosted its annual Shining Stars Gala on May 25 in honor of the top 10 academically ranked seniors from each of Pasadena ISD’s five comprehensive high schools. The students each invite an educator who has made a significant difference in their lives to accompany them to the gala.

Guest speaker, former Shining Star and 2012 graduate of South Houston High School, Meet Patel challenged students to stay committed to learning. “As you look ahead, the road is filled with diverse opportunities and no matter where you step next, success will follow you as long as your commitment is genuine and your efforts are pure,” said Patel.

For the last six years, MDL Enterprise, Inc. has provided the top 10 students from each campus with a laptop or tablet.

“We are grateful to MDL Enterprise, Inc. for the generous contribution they continue to invest in gifting our students tonight.” said Cristina Womack, Education Foundation board president.

Additionally, the Community Shining Star Award was presented to Neighbors Emergency Center for going above and beyond in their support of the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation.

During the 2016-2017 school year, Neighbors Emergency Center has donated more than $20,000 in financial and in-kind donations to the Education Foundation and the Dr. Kirk Lewis Career & Technical High School.

Denise Jennings with LyondellBasell who coordinated support for the gala and provides volunteers to help make this event possible was recognized.
