Pasadena ISD Sports Medicine programs provide funding for cancer research

Pasadena ISD’s Sports Medicine programs presented representatives from Houston Methodist’s Clear Lake Cancer Center with a donation of $1,638.66.

The funds for the donation were raised earlier this school year during the third annual Fill the Bucket for Cancer Research Challenge. During the challenge, students and athletic trainers collected the funds at varsity football games and on high school campuses.

“We want the community to know that athletic trainers can do more than tape ankles and give out water,” said Jessica Pfannstiel, an athletic trainer at South Houston High School. “We can help our community, too.”

The donation will be used by Houston Methodist Cancer Center to find new treatments and cures for cancer.
