What started with a 2004 grant by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation to reward students for taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams, is now being continued by the PISD School Board, who recognized the success of the program and continues to reward $100 to students for each qualifying score on an AP exam.

Pasadena ISD (AP) students who scored a minimum of 3 on the college-level exam were rewarded by the district with $100 per exam taken that met the criteria.

Each high school held a pep rally to celebrate their AP students and their accomplishments. The events were unique to each high school and ranged from a western roundup, luau, minute to win it game, and inflatables in the gym.

The schools contributed a total of $182,000 to AP students.

Dobie $68,900 to 386 AP students, Rayburn distributed $24,200.00 to 170 AP students, Pasadena Memorial High School distributed a total of $40,200 to 260 AP students, Dr. Kirk Lewis Career & Technical School issued $24,400 to 174 AP students and Pasadena High School celebrated 166 AP students who earned a total of $24,300.
