H-E-B recently named former Miller Intermediate Principal Vanessa Reyes one of eight finalists for the 2018 Excellence in Education Awards.

H-E-B representatives surprised Reyes with a pep rally as they presented her with a $2,500 check for the school and a $1,000 check for herself.

“I’m extremely grateful for H-E-B’s acknowledgement of the excellent work Miller is doing in education,” said Reyes. “This award is a testament to the incredible success a school can achieve when faculty, parents, and community collectively commit to meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of students. I am SO PROUD of our kids!”

After the check presentation, H-E-B invited Reyes to compete against other educators in May for the chance to win cash prizes of up to $25,000.

H-E-B’s Excellence in Education is the largest monetary award program for educators in Texas, issuing over $95,000 to principals and teachers over the course of two months.
