The Summit was recently named New Group of the Year at the 2018 Celebration of Life luncheon, hosted by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.

The event annually recognizes various health organizations and schools throughout the Greater Houston area that “commit to life” by holding blood drives on a regular basis. Out of over 800 organizations recognized during the celebration, the Summit was one of only 12 special award recipients.

“I like that kids at Summit are being recognized for something positive,” said Rebekah Delafield, Summit nurse. “It means so much to me because we get a lot of good kids that just need a little guidance. Seeing them do something as generous as giving blood shows you how big their hearts really are.”

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center also awarded South Houston High School and Tegeler Career Center as Gold Level recipients for holding three or more successful blood drives in 2017.
