Reyes selected to lead Rayburn High

The Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Vanessa Reyes to serve as the next principal of Sam Rayburn High School. Reyes fills a vacancy left by former Principal Robert Stock who recently accepted a position with the district as the Director of Transportation.

Reyes, began her education career at Pasadena ISD as a teacher at South Houston High School and Sam Rayburn High School. From 2006-2014, she was the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Rayburn High and since 2014 and she has been the principal at V.W. Miller Intermediate School.

“I am very excited for this homecoming of sorts,” said Reyes, “Three-fourths of my career has been at Rayburn.”

Reyes added that she is confident in a smooth transition. “I love the community and I know the families,” she said.

Reyes said she is sad to leave Miller as she stated, “Miller made me, Rayburn raised me. I am looking forward to working with the Rayburn faculty and staff to create a model high school for getting students college, career and world ready. “

Reyes was joined by her husband Gustavo, and staff from both Miller Intermediate and Sam Rayburn High.
