Former Rayburn principal starts new role as transportation director

Sam Rayburn High School Principal Robert Stock has announced that he will take on a new administrative position in Pasadena ISD for the remainder of the school year.

Stock, who served as Rayburn’s principal for the last decade, will take over as the district’s transportation department director, replacing Keith Moore who will be retiring from Pasadena ISD this month.

Stock started his career in education as a social studies teacher in 1988 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, and then St. Pius V Catholic School in 1989. He continued to teach social studies at Mt. Carmel High School, where he also served as the head football coach.

In 1999, Stock joined the Rayburn family where he taught geography. After leaving for a couple of years to teach at St. Thomas High School, he returned to Rayburn in 2002 to serve as a social studies teacher, coach and assistant principal before accepting the role of principal in 2007.

Stock graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1988 from the University of Houston-Downtown and earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2003.

Stock shared the news about his new administrative role on Rayburn’s Facebook page, stating, “The emotions are mixed because of the great opportunity that awaits me in serving the students of PISD in a different way.”

“I would like to have…stayed through the year and graduation, but these opportunities don’t always come available and don’t always come when you want them to,” Stock said.

He wrapped up his farewell message by thanking the Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees and Rayburn family for the opportunity to serve as principal and take on a new challenge.

“I am blessed that the PISD Administration and Board of Trustees provided me that opportunity so many years ago, and am grateful that they believe in me to serve as Director of Transportation.”

“I hope that I have impacted your lives in the meaningful way that you have impacted mine. I will always be a Texan at heart, and Sam Rayburn High School students, faculty, staff, parents, and community will always have a special place in my heart. I will continue to follow your successes and if you ever need me, I’m an email away and just down the street. Thanks again. You will always be special to me.”
