Athletic Hall of Fame Tickets now available

 

Tickets are now on sale for the sixth annual Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame Induction banquet, set for April 14 at Phillips Field House.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the Pasadena ISD Athletics Office, 2906 Dabney, on the west side of the field house. Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Table sponsorships are also available for the event, which is limited to 360 seats. Sponsorship opportunities are divided into Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels. Platinum level members have the opportunity to sponsor an inductee and receive priority seating for $5,000. The Platinum package also includes 10 banquet tickets (full table) and advertisement opportunities. Here are all the sponsorship opportunities:

  • PLATINUM: $5,000 -- Includes priority seating at a full table (10 banquet tickets), exclusive sponsorship for one Hall of Fame inductee, opportunity to present award to inductee, a full-page program advertisement, priority seating and additional recognition during the ceremony.
  • GOLD: $2,500 -- Includes 10 banquet tickets (full table), a half-page program ad and other rewards.
  • SILVER: $1,000 -- Includes six banquet tickets.
  • BRONZE: $500 -- Includes four banquet tickets.

A portion of the proceeds will be used to fund senior scholarships and provide for other athletics-related needs in Pasadena ISD.

The banquet has continuously sold out for the past several years, attracting some of the greatest high school and college standouts. This year’s inductee line-up will include:

Allen Brown (deceased), Pasadena High School track coach; Nikki Cockrell, Rayburn High School softball player, Class of ’94; Bobby Crenshaw (deceased), Pasadena High School all-state lineman, Class of ’59; LaToya Davis, South Houston High School basketball player, Class of ’02; Bruce Dowdy, former Red Raiders’ defensive end, Pasadena High School alum, Class of ’67 and head football coach; Harry Morgan, South Houston High School head football coach Johnny Parker, standout football and basketball player at Sam Rayburn High School, Class of ’68; Calvin Powitzky, Jr., Pasadena High School All-State tackle/lineman, Class of ’64.

For the first time since the Athletics Hall of Fame began, a team induction will take place to celebrate the achievements of the Pasadena High School 1957 track team for capturing the state championship win that year with a record-breaking 45 points. The team also earned fourth place in 1999 on the Pasadena Citizen’s Top 100 Sports Achievements of the Century.

FOX 26 Houston News personality Nate Griffin will serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the induction banquet. Griffin, a sports analyst and reporter for FOX 26 News (KRIV-TV), has covered professional, college and high school sports in the Greater Houston area, spanning more than 25 years, across various communication platforms such as radio, television and social media.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Griffin and the inductees at the end of the ceremony.
