Pasadena Memorial administrators carry on a prom tradition in a new way

Prom may have been rescheduled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, administrators at Pasadena Memorial High School were determined to carry on one of the school’s favorite traditions: the annual administrator prom dance.

Shaun Owen, an assistant principal at PMHS, and his wife Meghan, a former dance instructor at South Houston High School, led the charge.

“I had the idea to create a video of some kind for our seniors,” said Shaun Owen. “She designed an idea and I proposed the idea to our admin staff. They were all extremely excited to develop it for our students.”

Each week, administrators were assigned to record portions of the video and practice their dance moves. Once their part in the video was complete, the submissions of administrators were added to the compilation video.

“Mr. Owen was our creative and technical director,” said Jeremy Richardson, the principal of Pasadena Memorial High School. “He pieced it all together, and his wife Meghan taught us the dance online.”

The administrators’ prom video went out the day of what would have been Senior Prom.

“We wanted to show them that they are not forgotten,” said Owen.
